Yes, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to cruise. I am always asked WHY I love to cruise. My natural response back is, “Why not cruise?”. Let me explain why….
First, I hate to make a commitment when traveling. Yes, I’m married, and to my husband and children, well I’m totally committed. However, when I’m traveling I want to see it all! And with a cruise I can. I just LOVE that idea. I love the fact that today I can see Jamaica, come back to the ship, have dinner and drinks, go to bed and the next morning wake up in the Grand Caymen Islands. How awesome is that? And I didn’t have to drive, or steer the ship?? I also love it because you can get a “taste” of a country before you plan an entire vacation there to see how much you enjoy it. Almost a kind of a “try it before you buy it”.
Second, and this ties back into the first. I only have to unpack once! Yes, I’m going to all of these different places and I only have to unpack once. Yay! Being a wife and mother, if I only have to take care of unpacking and packing once that’s a major score!
Third, I’m in a floating city. Again, going back to my first point, I always have “home” to go back to. If I forgot something really important, like my sunscreen, or my watch, there are shops on board for me to shop at. There are tons of restaurants with different varieties of food for all different pallets to eat. If I didn’t like the island I was on, back to the ship I go. Or if I’m having a really good time I know that I can stay until I have to get back till port and that my clean room with a warm shower will be waiting for me.
Another plus side of having a floating city is that there is something for everyone in the family to do. If you want to sit and read a book, there are areas for that, or perhaps you want to play basketball, there are areas for that as well. Today’s cruise lines are so diverse and there is something for everyone. You can choose from larger boats that have everything on them from mini-golf, rock climbing walls, and breweries, to smaller boats that are more intimate.
Fourth, the entertainment is excellent. From broadway shows, to acrobatics, to comedians there is something for everyone. When we cruise I look forward to seeing something different every night. I love a good dueling piano bar, or a comedian who can just make you laugh till your belly hurts. The fact that you can do something different every night is just amazing.
And for those of you who know me, you know how social I am. I do love meeting people. When you are on a ship of up to 5,400 people you get to know your neighbors. I think that is something that I enjoy the most, people watching and getting to know the people on the ship. Finding out what they did that day at shore. I find cruises to be a social gathering as well. I also love meeting the staff that are from all different countries and learning about them. Although I love all different kinds of travel, I have to admit that cruising has to be my one of my favorites!
